چکیده

Simultaneous regional blood flow and resistance measurements were made in 21 organs in 11 supine unanesthetized rhesus monkeys before and during two different d ses of intravenously infused angiotensin II or saline. Systemic arterial pressure and total peripheral resistance significantly increased at both infusion rates in the six experimental monkeys, compared with changes in five control monkeys; cardiac output decreased at the high dose level. Among major organs, the kidneys, skin, liver (hepatic artery), and mesentery had reductions in the fraction of cardiac output they received and, thus, the greatst increase in resistance and decrease in blood flow. No organ had a significant increase in its blood flow; however, skeletal muscle and bone were normally perfused due to increases in the fraction of cardiac output they received. Four other monkeys received continuous intravenous angiotensin infusions at initially subpressor rates for periods of 26 to 30 days. There were steady increases of systemic arterial blood pressure due to a rise in total peripheral resistance which reached a plateau in about 5 days. Avoidance schedules or other environmental stresses in these angiotensin-infused monkeys produced much more marked pressor episodes than those which occur in noninfused monkeys. These observations support the hypothesis that small amounts of angiotensin can potentiate sympathetic mediated vasomotor activity.

Effects of Ketamine, Fentanyl and Paracetamol on Pain Intensity and Hemodynamic Parameters after Deep Vitrectomy

Background & objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of preventive administration of ketamine, fentanyl and paracetamol on pain intensity and hemodynamic parameters after deep vitrectomy. Methods: In this clinical trial, 80 candidates of deep vitrectomy surgery were randomly assigned into 4 groups (1-4) and received 0.5 mg / kg ketamine, 2 μg / kg fentanyl, 10 mg/kg of par...

Heme Oxygenase Activity as a Determinant of the Renal Hemodynamic Response to Low Dose Angiotensin II

Angiotensin II causes renal injury through hemodynamic and other effects, and pressor doses of angiotensin II induce heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) as a protective response. The present studies examined the hemodynamic effects of more clinically relevant, lower doses of angiotensin II, and the role of HO activity in influencing these effects. Under euvolemic conditions, angiotensin II increased arteri...

The effects of Mas receptor antagonist (A779) and renal perfusion pressure on serum nitrite concentration in male and female rats when angiotensin II receptors 1 & 2 were blocked

Introduction: Renin angiotensin system has an important role in blood pressure and renal functions. Active angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 converts angiotensin I into angiotensin-(1-7) which is a vasodilator hormone and interacts with nitric oxide changes as well as other angiotensin II receptors. In this study we evaluated the role of Mas receptor antagonist (A779) and renal perfusion press...

Comparing the Effect of Using Normal Saline and Distilled Water for Tracheal Suctioning on the Incidence of Ventilator-associated Pneumonia and Hemodynamic Indexes in Ventilator-dependent Patients

Background and Aims: VAP prevention is a top priority in the intensive care units. The study was conducted to compare the effect of using normal saline and distilled water for tracheal suctioning on the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia and hemodynamic indexes in ventilator-dependent patients. Methods: The present study is a randomized clinical trial that was conducted from 2017 to 2...
